A European IT and freight technology company set out to improve search visibility across key markets. Their SEO translation workflow was already in place, but limitations soon surfaced. The existing vendor couldn’t support all language combinations needed, especially uncommon ones.

A simple request to Milengo for SEO blog localization revealed deeper potential. From the start, the client noticed a difference, not only in what we delivered, but how we worked. Our linguists engaged with the content: asking questions, flagging inconsistencies, and offering suggestions. They weren’t just following instructions; they were strategic partners.

That level of care and ownership made an impression. It laid the groundwork for a broader collaboration, built on shared values of quality, clarity, and strategic alignment.

Due to internal policies regarding external vendor promotion, the client has chosen to remain unnamed in this case study.

Localization Challenges
  • Fragmented workflows
  • Support for uncommon languages
  • Multi-vendor setup
  • The challenge: Disconnected workflows, limited scalability

Before partnering with Milengo, the client managed SEO translations through multiple vendors and internal stakeholders: keyword research was handled by an SEO agency, translation outsourced to various providers, and coordination left to the internal team. The result? A disjointed and inefficient workflow.

Furthermore, because their translation agency could not support all required languages, the client was forced to work with additional third-party providers – adding to operational overhead.

This fragmented model made it difficult for them to scale. The situation was further complicated by differing logistics and freight regulations across target markets. Timelines slipped, translation quality fluctuated, and SEO performance suffered.

The localization team spent more time coordinating than optimizing. With content volumes rising and expectations growing, they needed a partner who could streamline operations and improve outcomes across content, languages, and workflows.

The solution: A streamlined model for scalable SEO translations

Working with the client’s existing translation management system, Milengo introduced a tailored SEO translation strategy rooted in website localization best practices. It was designed to align with the client’s strategic goals while simplifying execution. This approach helped streamline operations, strengthen content quality, and establish a more scalable model for creating multilingual SEO content.

    Centralized SEO translation and consultation

We combined keyword research, SEO adaptation, and translation into a unified workflow – eliminating vendor handoffs and enabling true content alignment. Each project began with localized keyword research, followed by a review of the topic’s market potential. If we found no good relevant keywords, we advised the client to pursue a standard translation instead.

This consultative approach helped the client focus their SEO efforts where they mattered most – maximizing impact while avoiding unnecessary spend.

Linguists with a strategic SEO mindset

To ensure relevance and consistency we assembled a team of dedicated linguists, selected for their subject matter understanding and SEO expertise. They actively raised questions, flagged issues, and tailored translations to each market’s search behavior.

The team’s level of engagement helped surface issues early, nurtured trust, and improved overall quality.

    Flexible coverage for all languages

To support translations into 11 languages, including less common languages such as Romanian and Serbian, we built a flexible resourcing model. For niche language combinations, such as translations from Serbian into Slovenian, where direct linguist support wasn’t available, pivot languages were used to enable reliable delivery. This flexibility ensured consistent quality, even in complex setups.

    Consultative project management

Our project managers acted as enablers – providing high-touch communication, surfacing inconsistencies, and managing file prep across tools. Their responsiveness, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving reduced friction and improved turnaround reliability. The client consistently ranked these factors among their favorite aspects of the collaboration.

The results: Improved SEO performance and efficiency

Since the beginning of the partnership, the client has experienced measurable improvements across content performance and operational efficiency.

Turnaround times improved markedly, dropping from 12 days per article to just 7 – a change that enabled faster publication and closer alignment with content schedules. This increased efficiency supported the delivery of 73 SEO localization projects, totalling 168,484 translated words for SEO content.

SEO performance also saw measurable improvement. With keyword strategy built directly into translation workflows, we helped the client localize content that achieved stronger search rankings and organic traffic. Between July 2023 and today, organic traffic across various markets saw increases of between 29% and 125%, reflecting the value of optimized, market-relevant translations.

By centralizing SEO strategy, linguistic expertise, and delivery, Milengo turned a fragmented process into a scalable growth engine.
